Granny Squares are fabulous for blankets, scarves, sweaters, bags, all out of simple squares created from any yarn you choose!
In this 3-hour class, you’ll learn how to make a classic four-round Granny square. In the process, you will practice your crochet pattern- and chart-reading skills. Make as many squares as you can, and learn two methods for joining them together—sewn and crocheted.
Prerequisites: This is a class for advanced beginners. You’ll need to know how to make chains, slip stitches, and double-crochet stitches.
Materials: Any smooth DK or worsted-weight yarn for your first Granny Square adventure and a crochet hook in an appropriate size. (An F, G, or H hook is a decent place to start.) We welcome you to bring yarn from home—previously purchased at PBYS, please!—or arrive a few minutes early to pick out a couple of new goodies to play with!
